Hassocks Allotments
Hassocks Parish Council owns and maintains the Parklands Allotments in Hassocks.
If you are a Hassocks resident you can apply to the Parish Council to rent an allotment. There is a waiting list, but plots do become available.
The fee is currently £44.00 per year for half a plot and £22.00 per year for a quarter plot.
A refundable deposit of £50.00 is payable at the beginning of the tenancy and refunded at the end of a tenancy depending on the condition of the plot and key return.
Included in the rental fee is membership of the Hassocks Allotment Holders Association (HAHA).
The Association was formed in 2008 to help allotment holders and to foster a sense of community.
PLEASE NOTE
Before you take on a plot, please consider if you have enough time to properly work it. Managing an allotment plot can get easier after a couple of years, if you can stay on top of weeding and other jobs, but the first couple of seasons it will require a lot of time and effort, which can be challenging, especially if you’ve never grown your own fruit and veg before. Plot maintenance, we ask that plot holders cultivate their plots, 50% in year 1 and at least 75% in following years, and to keep their plots well maintained.
There are regular plot inspections during the growing season from May to September carried out by HPC, to ensure that tenants are using their plots properly and are being maintained to an acceptable standard.
To join the waitng list please contact Hassocks Parish Council with your name, address in Hassocks and contact telephone number.
